so chapter 8 of carpe brewski went up tonight and it gave me this rush of “DRAW MUST DRAW,” except instead of drawing something from chapter 8, i was compelled to draw my favorite (non) scene from the story so far, which was alluded to in chapter 5. may i ramble for a minute here? TOO BAD, I’M GOING TO. one thing about going away to college is that now more than ever, i am so, SO aware that barely 0.5% of my state is jewish. i have also discovered that the other 99.5% of people are weirdly nervous about asking me things about judaism. they always (ALWAYS) preface a question with: “it won’t insult you if i ask you a question, will it?” i mean… why on earth would it insult me? bro, i am THRILLED you asked. please, let me tell you rambling stories and make jokes you don’t get and sing hebrew songs with a probably-atrocious accent and burn traditional dishes for you. no, i’m not orthodox. yes, my knowledge is extremely spotty. but i’d love to tell you about it anyway. the (roughly) seventy trillion jesus clubs on campus don’t have an qualms about telling us all about their ways, so why is asking about mine so TERRIFYING? i won’t bite, i promise. and if i laugh at your ignorance (which… i will) it’s because i think you’re ADORABLE and i LOVE that you’re trying. so the idea that charles would go out and mistakenly buy a tea-light holder instead of just ASKING THE JEW FIRST hit me right here *pokes chest*, because it’s just so real and relevant to my life. i may or may not have shed a manly tear. and by that i mean i cried. but in a good way. i’m pretty sure this isn’t what gyzym was trying to describe for the candle holder, but this is the tea-light holder my mom and i bought for my bat mitzvah’s candle lighting ceremony. and while looking to purchase it, we had about as much luck as charles trying to explain to the clerk what it was for. so again, *pokes chest* <3oh man i hope i’m doing this right tumblr y u so complicatedlet’s just ignore all those bullshit clothing folds shall we okey
